The Challenge
The logistics coordinator faced severe inventory lag issues. Product quantities mismatched between third-party warehouse databases, front-end Shopify stores, and enterprise ERP software. Standard sync scripts ran every 4 hours, creating windows where products were oversold or double-shipped, leading to high shipping chargebacks and customer cancellations.
The Solution
We architected a real-time, event-driven API sync pipeline. Using Python (FastAPI), n8n workflow triggers, and Zapier webhooks, we established active Redis cache locks that synchronize stock level adjustments across Shopify ERP endpoints in under 500ms.
With multiple global warehouses, inventory conflicts were inevitable under scheduled scripts. We resolved this by building a highly scalable Python and n8n webhook microservice. The sync engine operates with millisecond-level lock keys, ensuring that simultaneous purchases on different storefronts check the absolute latest warehouse inventory before finalizing orders.
The Outcome
Completely eliminated stock errors and overselling issues (100% sync accuracy). Standard inventory lags dropped from 4 hours to under half a second. The supply chain team saved over 20 hours per week of manual inventory reconciliations.
